Celebrity chef and food critic Anthony Bourdain stopped in Charleston, South Carolina for the newest episode of Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown and was a bit surprised by one particular restaurant.
While in the South, you have to stop at a Waffle House, even if you are a chef who has traveled around the world. He ate at one with local Charleston chef Sean Brock, who admitted that eating there was what made him interested in becoming a chef.
After eating a pecan waffle, Bourdain was stunned. It was actually good.
Bourdain also went to Husk, Brock’s restaurant, where he also found actor Bill Murray.
“People take real pride their ability to cook my aunt’s recipe, my grandmother’s recipe... this is how we made these,” Murray said. “And the standard of food here is so high that, when I go around anyplace, I just go, ‘Ehh...’”
Parts Unknown airs on CNN on Sundays at 9 p.m.
