Terror filled the streets of Paris on Friday evening after a series of attacks at a restaurant and theater killed more than 100 people dead and has a hostage situation currently underway.

Officials told the Associated Press that over 100 people were killed after a series of explosions and gunfire rang out at sites in and around the city. Furthermore, a hostage-taking situation involving hundreds more is still ongoing, however, these numbers have not yet been confirmed.

The shootings are said to have happened near the former headquarters of Charlie Hebdo, the satirical newspaper that was left reeling after a massacre of several of its employees back in January.

Authorities said that two explosions also occurred outside the Stade de France stadium north of Paris during a France-Germany friendly football match that President François Hollande was attending.

The New York Times reported that while many of those at the stadium are being kept inside for their safety, President Hollande was evacuated.

At this time police are not saying if  these events are linked to terrorism.
