The Ben Carson presidential campaign made a major error last night that shows that they might not know what the country Carson wants to run even looks like, particularly New England.
The campaign posted a map of just the contiguous U.S. states to highlight all the states that do not want to accept Syrian refugees. “I am standing with the 31 Governors that are working to keep our nation safe,” the message read. Carson posted the map on both Facebook and Twitter.
However, anyone should have been able to instantly recognize that something was wrong with the map. Somehow, New York State got extra beaches, Connecticut grew in size because part of Vermont decided to join it. Massachusetts suddenly has a border with Canada.
If you look closer, you’ll notice that the map had Virginia's part of the Delmarva Peninsula belonging to Maryland, notes The Washington Post.
The map was eventually deleted, but since nothing dies on the Internet, it’s still floating around.
This blunder comes just after a scathing New York Times report on Carson, which suggests that some of his own advisors don’t think he understands foreign policy well enough. Carson is currently leading some Republican presidential polls, but the focus on foreign policy has become greater lately because of the attacks in Paris.
