Snowpiercer, the acclaimed science fiction film from South Korean director Bong Joon-Ho, is being turned into a television series.

The series will be written by Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and produced by Marty Adelstein’s Tomorrow Studios. Bong will executive produce with Dooho Choi, Adelstein and Becky Clements, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Chan-wook Park, the producer on the film, will also executive produce. CJ Entertainment & Media of Korea is also producing.

Snowpiercer feels like a story tailor-made for television. Based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, the film was set in a future where a second Ice Age has wiped away most of the life on Earth. However, a few survive on a train that constantly travels around the world. Within the train, there is a hierarchy and those in the back try to reach the better life that those in the front have.

The film starred Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, Jamie Bell, Ed Harris, John Hurt and Kang-ho Song. It was Bong’s first film in English and earned acclaim from sci-fi fans and critics. Unfortunately, the film wasn’t allowed to do well in theaters and was released on VOD just two weeks after it opened in the U.S. in June 2014.

Bong is currently working on his next film, the star-studded monster epic Okja with Jake Gyllenhaal. Brad Pitt and Netflix are backing the movie.
