Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak officially announced Monday that quarterback Peyton Manning will sit Sunday against the Chicago Bears following the revelation that he's suffering from a torn plantar fascia in his right foot.

Backup Brock Osweiler will start in his place. Osweiler also replaced Manning after he was benched in the Broncos 29-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kubiak said in a statement, "[I] told the team this week that Peyton is not going to play," going on to add "Brock is going to play this week and that all of our full attention is going to be to getting Peyton back and healthy. That decision has been made. I know that's the best decision for him, to get him back and healthy, and we need to know where we're heading this week," ESPN reported.

His newest injury combined with his age (39) and declining performance this season is causing many fans to question whether or not we'll ever see Manning start another game in the NFL.

In a statement of his own, Manning said, "By going out there trying to help the team, I ended up hurting the team. I'm disappointed about that," reported the Denver Post.

Prior to being benched on Sunday, Manning added to his long list of career achievments by setting the NFL record for career passing yards. Manning is also a five-time regular season MVP and won his lone Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts in 2007.
