Burt Reynolds is confessing that he views his ex, Sally Field, as the one that got away. In an interview with Vanity Fair, he expressed regret over breaking up with her in the ‘80s.
The former couple mixed business and pleasure by co-starring in several films together, including Smokey and the Bandit and its sequel. He went on to marry Loni Anderson and divorce her in 1993.
“I miss her terribly,” he told Vanity Fair. “Even now, it’s hard on me. I don’t know why I was so stupid. Men are like that, you know. You find the perfect person, and then you do everything you can to screw it up.”
Reynolds also referred to the actress, who married Alan Greisman after their split, only to divorce in 1993, the “love of my life.” He told Piers Morgan the same thing in 2012, saying, "I missed out on that one."
He now has a girlfriend, Rhonda Stearns.
