Dexter fans may be able to get excited since there is a possibility the Showtime series may appear.
The idea has been there for some time, but even more interest was raised after the show’s Twitter account posted, “Who wants a leg? Happy Thanksgiving from #Dexter.” Plus, the photo posted with the tweet included “His knife’s freshly sharpened.”
At the TCA press tour panel several weeks ago, David Nevins, the head of Showtime, discussed the possibility that Dexter could make a resurrection.
ScreenCrush reported that he said that the possibility was there, depending on the timing. Nevins said, “It’s a question of when the timing is right. If there’s a willingness to do it, I would certainly listen.”
He also said the only way he would consider it if Michael C. Hall wanted to come back after playing the titular character for eight seasons. “I would only do it with Michael…It remains to be seen if they’re going to want to do it, if I’m going to want to do it.”
Nevins also said that if the show were to be resurrected, then he would want it to be done “in a new concept and configuration.”
Many felt that the series finale was done in a poor manner. According to CarterMatt, the show is one of many that “is in need of redemption.” A new series could potentially reveal whether or not Dexter would have to pay for his crimes or get away with it and move on with his life.
In 2014, Michael C. Hall said the idea of a spin-off was “daunting” but he wouldn’t turn down the possibility.
