Former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb is headed to jail after pleading guilty to his second DUI.
TMZ Sports reported that the 38-year-old learned his punishment for the crime on Friday and was sentenced to 18 days in the county jail.
McNabb’s lawyer has said that his client will be on "work release" during that time so he will be out in the day, but back in lockup at the jail for the nights. Other terms of his sentence include 72 days in home detention after his release, counseling, probation, 30 hours of community service and a $6,342.23 fine.
McNabb was pulled over last June in Arizona. An officer said that he had a blood alcohol level of .17, more than double the legal limit of .08. It was his second DUI in as many years. He served one day in jail for his first offense.
The Chicago native played in the NFL for 13 seasons and spent some time with the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings. The best days of his playing career, however, were spent with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was at the helm for five NFC East Championship games and one Super Bowl appearance. After his playing days were over, he landed a job as an analyst with Fox Sports 1, but was suspended indefinitely after his arrest.
