While the Philadelphia 76ers remain winless, the Golden State Warriors remain undefeated.

The Associated Press reported after dispatching the Sacramento Kings 120-101 Saturday night, the Warriors are now 18-0 on the season.

This means they are set to pull within two wins in matching the best start of a season in the four major North American pro sports, ESPN reported.

With two more victories, the Warriors will match the 1884 St. Louis Maroons, who won their first 20 baseball games and the championship that season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Beginning last season, the Warriors have had a winning streak of 22 consecutive games, matching the 2007-2008 Rockets for the third-longest win streak in NBA history. Only the 2012-13 Miami Heat (27 games) and the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers (33 games) have longer win streaks.

With Friday’s home victory, the Warriors won its 28 straight regular-season home game (a streak also dating to last season), becoming the first team to accomplish such a feat since the 1996-97 Chicago Bulls, who won 32 straight at home en route to their second championship during the Bulls’ second threepeat.

In tallying 13 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists, Draymond Green secured his second triple-double in as many nights, becoming the first Warriors player to record back-to-back triple-doubles since Wilt Chamberlain in 1964, per the Elias Sports Bureau.

One night off of erupting for 41 against the Phoenix Suns, league MVP Stephen Curry settled for 19 points on 4-of-7 shooting as the Warriors raced past a Kings team missing Demarcus Cousins in the second quarter and never looked back.

Curry, who played less than 30 minutes and sat out the entire fourth quarter, scored all but two of his points in the first quarter.

“I'm sure Steph doesn't like it,” Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton said about resting Curry. “But the coaching staff and the training staff, we're thrilled to get him that rest.'”

The Warriors will need a rested Curry if they are to remain unbeaten as they embark on a two-week, seven-game road trip beginning on Monday against the Utah Jazz.
