Leah Remini got emotional on Good Morning America on Monday morning, where she talked about the tension between herself, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes before she quit Scientology.

The former King of Queens star, who has been vocal about Cruise’s “power” within the church, got teary-eyed when she talked about Holmes’ apology and the fact that she left the church.

"At the time, I was fighting with her," she told Amy Robach. "Now, I know really what she was going through."

Remini is referring to Holmes’ statement about the actress’ claims she was “written up” by Holmes after her wedding to Cruise. “I regret having upset Leah in the past, and wish her only the best in the future,” said Holmes.

"I had no idea she was going through probably a lot more and looking back now and seeing her and Suri out there in the world and her being able to be with her daughter and live her life— I'm touched by it because I know now she did what she did leaving because she had to protect her daughter," she said.

Cruise admitted in a deposition in 2013 that part of the reason Holmes left him was because of Scientology.

“It's really because we both left that we're able to have this sort of grace towards each other because we're back to being human," said Remini.
