Michael Showalter is headed to ABC for a brand new political sitcom.

Deadline is reporting that the Wet Hot American Summer star and co-creator has sold a comedy to ABC called Work Married. The series will follow a Vermont state senator and his overachieving chief of staff who realize their "work marriage" is the only relationship they have left.

Also joining Work Married will be Showalter's writing partner Christina Lee. Peter Principato (Blackish, Wet Hot American Summer) serves as producer.

Showalter actually has a number of projects in the works right now, including another comedy series for TBS called Search Party, which revolves around a group of self-absorbed young adults who come together when a college acquaintance disappears. It will star Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development), with Showalter producing.

Then, there's Hello My Name Is Doris, a new movie directed by Showalter about a woman in her sixties (Sally Field) who has a relationship with a much younger co-worker (Max Greenfield). That film will be released in theaters this March.

Needless to say, it's a good time to be a Michael Showalter fan.
