Mindy is missing Danny terribly. At this point he hopes he will be home back in New York by Christmas.
Mindy is finally feeling on top of the whole full time work and mom status. But there’s one last thing she has to take care of: selling her apartment. She hasn’t used it at all since she moved in with Danny when Leo was born. Peter is surprised that she’s selling her bachelorette pad. So to “fix” the notion of responsibility, he wants them to go party together.
While putting up posters for her apartment open house, Mindy runs into a man named James, who runs a widow/widower support group. While talking, Mindy makes it sound like Danny is dead instead of across the country. James brings a friend, Loretta, who is searching for a new apartment that doesn’t remind her of her late husband. Loretta wants the apartment at 10% above the asking price. James also invites Mindy to the next meeting of the support group.
Morgan and Colette find out that Tamara is living another life outside of work, she’s a singer. They secretly go to her show to see her sing, to find out that she wrote a song about her short-lived relationship with Morgan.
Peter goes with Mindy to the meeting to make sure that she comes clean about how Danny is not dead, until he finds out that James is the CEO of Nike and is hosting a party for the Nix’s basketball team and the Nix’s dancers. Everyone in the support group is invited, too. Peter immediately announces that his wife is also dead. Neither Peter or Mindy back down from their stories and enjoy the party. Well, until James kisses Mindy. Mindy confesses and gets kicked out of the party. She does admit it was nice to have people actually listen to her talk about how much she misses Danny.
Peter drops a truth bomb on Mindy that he doesn’t think that Mindy and Danny’s relationship is healthy. Danny makes all of the decisions in the relationship, which cannot be good for Mindy in the long-run.
Just as the episode ends, Danny finally comes home.
