Another thing Mindy has to get used to now that she's a mom is dealing with other crazy moms. Mindy is questioning her decision to put Leo in public schools while other moms talk about how competitive to get into exclusive Manhattan pre-school academies.

Mindy bribes the secretary of the fancy Manhattan pre-school so she could get an interview, which doesn’t go well. To impress the admission committee, Mindy and Danny must attend a parents event together the next evening. One catch: Danny is still in California taking care of his dad.

So, Mindy is on the search to be a replacement for Danny. As a last resort, Mindy makes a deal with Jody. If he goes to the event with her, she will go on a date with Jody and his brother’s wife, Anne-Marie, who he has had an affair with.

Jody actually does phenomenally with the parents open house event. The head of the admissions committee even decides to fast track Leo’s application. She decides to visit Mindy and Jody at home the next morning.

The dinner with Anne-Marie goes. . . well, not all as well as Jody would have liked. Mindy, of course, is being her wonderfully awkward self, so I don’t see anything wrong with that. It turns out that Jody has purposely scheduled the dinner on a night when Colette couldn’t come and he’s using Mindy as a way to get in bed with Anne-Marie again. After finding this out, Mindy is on a mission to make sure that doesn’t happen. Anne-Marie actually ends up breaking it off with Jody for good since she refuses to leave Jody’s brother.

Jody shows up at Mindy’s apartment the next day for the home interview drunk as a skunk. But literally, since he slept in Central Park the night before. Mindy shoves Jody into the bedroom and tells him to be quiet and pretend his is sick during the interview. He does not do that and comes out of the bedroom in Danny’s PJs being stupid drunk, which appalls the school admissions chair.

While confronting Jody in the bathroom, Mindy decides this fancy school is not for Leo. She went to public school and so will Leo. The admissions officer actually accepts Leo into the school. However, tuition starting at $70,000 per year is off the charts ridiculous.
