After performing twice during the finale, Irwin and Hough found out they won the trophy over runners-up Nick Carter and his partner Sharna Burgess.

Even though Irwin enjoyed the journey, she told People after her win "I'm excited to get back into my khakis and be with the animals again.”

This win marks Hough's sixth, but he said it's special this time around because of how much the show has changed since the beginning. "This is a completely different show than the first time I won," he told USA Today. "To win at this level, at the standard the show has been raised to, has been incredible. More importantly, it’s just been so special with Bindi. She is just a champion of life.”
