The Rebel Alliance will continue fighting against the Galactic Empire in Season 3 of Star Wars Rebels.

According to StarWars.com, Disney has officially ordered a third season of the series. These new episodes are already in production, and they will premiere sometime in 2016.

“The show continues to tell fun, heartfelt, exciting new Star Wars stories week after week, and it’s beloved by fans of all ages," said Lucasfilm SVP of Development Kiri Hart. "Season Three will see our rebel heroes face new obstacles and find new allies in their fight against the Empire.”

The hit animated series is a canonical part of the Disney Star Wars universe, following a group of rebels and taking place before the events of A New Hope. Many characters from the movies and from previous Star Wars shows have appeared including Captain Rex, Ahsoka Tano, Grand Moff Tarkin and Darth Vader.

Rebels is currently Disney XD's #1 program among adults 18-49. Season 2 is still ongoing and will conclude on December 12.

Star Wars Rebels airs Wednesday nights at 9:30 on Disney XD.
