Wide receiver Wes Welker signed with the St. Louis Rams on Monday.

The signing comes after Welker had worked out with the team earlier in the day. Welker’s deal is for one year and has a base salary and he could earn up to $700,000 in incentives based on playing time and catches, according to NFL.com. The Rams could use Welker as they need help at the receiver position after Stedman Bailey was suspended for four games on Monday for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

"We've done physicals, we've done everything," Rams coach Jeff Fisher said of Welker.  "I think he'll eventually move some chains for us."

Welker hasn’t played since last season since the Denver Broncos didn’t re-sign him and his contract expired. He had 49 receptions for 464 yards and two touchdowns last year with the Broncos, according to Pro Football Talk. In his career Welker has 890 receptions for 9,822 yards and 50 touchdowns. From 2008 to 2012 he made five straight Pro Bowls.

The Rams are currently 4-4.
