Authorities in Florida have said that five people are dead and two more were injured in a crash on 1-95 in Miami- Dade.

ABC News noted that the fatal crash happened around 1 a.m. on Wednesday morning in the express lane near Miami Gardens Drive.

State Trooper Joe Sanchez said that a woman in her 20s was driving a pickup truck, which was traveling the wrong way in the express lane, when her truck sideswiped one vehicle and hit another head-on. The woman in the truck was killed as were four adults in a car she hit. Two of those adults killed were thrown from the vehicle.

The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that in addition to the deceased, two other people were injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available.

After the wreck, all northbound lanes were closed to traffic while law enforcement investigated the crash. Those lanes have since been reopened.

The names of the victims have not been released at this time.
