Amber Heard released a statement about her pending biosecurity case with Australia, saying she will plead not guilty to illegally importing her dogs with husband Johnny Depp into the country.

Heard will plead not guilty to charges of illegal importation and falsifying documents, she said in a statement released by her lawyer.

“My decision to defend these charges, as will become apparent in the appropriate forum of the Court, is not intended in any way to diminish the importance of Australia's laws," she said, NBC News reports.

She also said, “I respect the importance of Australia's laws.”

Heard, 29, and Depp brought their dogs Pistol and Boo into Australia on a private jet in May, which is the reason for allegations they broke the country’s strict biosecurity laws. The laws aim to keep diseases that dogs could potentially carry out of Australia and state all dogs need to be tested before entering the country.

At the time, Australia’s Minister of Agriculture, Barnaby Joyce, threatened to euthanize the dogs if they didn’t leave the country in 48 hours.
