An active shooter was reported on Arkansas State University’s campus Thursday, but authorities said no one was injured and no shots had been fired.
Reuters noted that a man in a pickup truck, with a firearm, crashed his vehicle on the school’s campus sparking panic and standoff with law enforcement officials.
Fortunately, the suspect did not fire any rounds and the standoff ended after an hour with him being apprehended by police.
"Man in custody at ASU. Officers in process of securing vehicle now," the Jonesboro Police Department said on its Twitter feed.
Photos posted online show an American flag flying from the truck and the suspect appeared to be wrapped in a "Don't Tread on Me" flag. Local media outlets have reported that the truck had two full propane tanks in the back of it.
So far, the man’s identity and his exact motive have not yet been released.
ASU is located about 130 miles northeast of Little Rock. The current number of students enrolled is just over 13,000. Traffic on campus was light though as it was the second day of final exams.
