It's already been over two years since the Bluths returned on Netflix and the next batch of Arrested Development episodes are very slowly coming along.
In an appearance on Good Morning America, Ron Howard said that Mitch Hurwitz is working with the writers at this time.
“It’s hopeful," he said. "What has happened is that the cast has become so freakin’ in demand and busy. Everyone wants to do it. Fans want it. I would be saddened if we didn’t achieve it."
Though it was unclear for some time if the Arrested Development revival was a one-time deal, talks of another season quickly started to pop up and executive producer Brian Graze recently made a similar comment as Howard, saying, "More [episodes] are coming for sure. The creator Mitch Hurwitz is creating a writer’s room right now. We’re going to get everybody on board.”
Arrested Development returned on Netflix in 2013, seven years after the show was cancelled by Fox. Season 4 received mixed reviews due to fact that scheduling conflicts prevented the cast from sharing as much screen time as they did in the first three seasons.
It was reported back in June that production on season 5 would begin in January or February of 2015, but given that writing is still underway, it's unclear if that's happening.
