While Brian Williams has done well since his return to MSNBC, NBC News president Andy Lack said today that he has no immediate plans to give the disgraced former NBC Nightly News anchor his own show.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, Lack said that he thinks that Williams has done well as MSNBC’s breaking news anchor since September. Williams made his return to television in September to cover Pope Francis’ arrival in the U.S.

Despite that, Lack said that MSNBC is not even considering giving Williams his own show as the network undergoes some major shifts.

“We’re just not looking at it,” Lack explained. “There always could be, would be, because he’s Brian, but that’s not where the focus is.”

He said that, instead, the focus is still on keeping Williams as the breaking news anchor.

Earlier this year, Williams was suspended for six months after it was discovered that an Iraq War story he told repeatedly was made up. Lester Holt was named his replacement and was later promoted to permanent Nightly News anchor.
