It was quite a morning for Cleveland Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert on Wednesday. No, he wasn’t pondering playing time in a past or upcoming game, but instead he was focused on delivering his newborn baby in the bathroom of his home.
The Associated Press noted that the Shumpert’s fiancée, Teyana Taylor, went into labor a month early and while she was in the bathtub. The athlete sprang into action since his baby girl was not waiting and delivered her with his bare hands and the help of a pair of headphones to steady the umbilical cord until medical personnel arrived.
Taylor posted a photo of Shumpert and their little one on Instagram with the message “Mommy carried you. Daddy delivered you. #MeetTheParents we love you baby girl.”
We are happy to report that thanks to Shumpert and his calm, quick thinking both mommy and baby Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr., are doing well.
