While pitcher David Price was with the Tampa Bay Rays, it was clear that he didn’t like Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz. Now that they are on the same team though, they are ready to put their differences behind them.

In an interview with 102.5FM in Santo Domingo today, Ortiz said that he is ready to play with the Cy Young Award winner.

“That's fine. We need pitching and David Price is a great pitcher and has showed that for years. I hope he will help us,” Ortiz said, reports ESPN. “It's a marquee pitcher, and that's what we need.”

Price first criticized Ortiz for thinking that he was bigger than the game of baseball itself by admiring his own home run during a 2013 AL Division Series game. In 2014, Price hit Ortiz, who then said he lost all respect for him. Then, before the 2015 All-Star game, Price said that Ortiz was no longer the same hitter.

All this is in the past though, Ortiz said today. “When a person joins your cause, you must leave the past in the past,” he said.

But even if there is still some animosity between the two, they only have to play together for one season. Ortiz previously announced that 2016 will be his last season before he retires.

Price, 30, signed a seven-year, $217 million contract with the Red Sox on Tuesday.
