The upcoming Marvel film Doctor Strange has unveiled an all new screenwriter.
C. Robert Cargill will be working on the screenplay for Doctor Strange, Marvel co-president Louis D'Esposito announced on Twitter. Cargill has previously collaborated with Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson on the horror film Sinister and its sequel.
Cargill has actually already been working on the Doctor Strange script for the past year, but this is the first time his role in the film has been made public. The first draft of Doctor Strange was written by Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, and then Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) was brought in. Now, it appears Cargill has been helping to tinker with the Spaihts version of the screenplay.
Doctor Strange, which is a part of Marvel's phase 3, follows neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) as he discovers a hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions. It also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Mad Mikkelsen, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Scott Adkins and Amy Landecker.
Though we haven't seen any footage yet, the first set photo was made available on D'Esposito's Twitter, and it shows off the film's mystical aspects including the seal of Vishanti and the eye of Agamotto.
Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4, 2016.
