The Ellen DeGeneres Show produces some of the most popular viral clips on the Internet and during November the comedian's talk show boasted the most views of any online entertainer.
According to new information released by Tubular, a group that monitors the popularity of Internet content, Ellen clips racked up an impressive 1.1 billion views during the month November. This statistic takes into account hits on YouTube, Facebook and a handful of other social media platforms
The No. 1 most viewed entertainment channel has typically been BuzzFeed, so Ellen overtaking them is a great sign for NBC, and an indication that traditional television broadcasting can still be successful online. The BuzzFeed channel BuzzFeed Tasty, was third on the list with 789 million views and BuzzFeed Video was fourth and had in 745 million views. In second was Justin Bieber, which makes sense considering his new album Purpose dropped during November.
Episodes of The Ellen DeGeneres Show typically average around three million viewers during their initial broadcast, but it's becoming increasingly clear that even the most popular of talk shows must have a strong online presence if they hope to compete in our cord-cutting age.
