FX's hit series Fargo will be jumping ahead to 2010 in a new season focused on our selfie-dominated culture.
According to creator Noah Hawley, the third season will be a lot more contemporary, revolving around what this region would be like in our current decade.
“I like the idea that we’re now living in a very selfie-oriented culture — people photograph what they’re eating and put it up for other people to see — it feels like a social dynamic that is very antithetical to the Lutheran pragmatism of the region," Hawley said.
Hawley did note, though, that fans shouldn't scour season 2 for clues about season 3's storyline, as he says they didn't really set up next year's plot during season 2. Despite the fact that we're back in the present time, season 3 won't star on the main characters from season 1, although Hawley hinted that they might show up briefly as various storylines intersect.
Don't get too excited, though, as Fargo likely will not return until 2017. That's because it needs to be shot in the winter, and so it will go into production next November for a spring 2017 air date.
