Not everything you do on a hoverboard has to be posted online, as one priest in the Philippines has learned. After videos of him using one while singing a song during his Christmas Eve Mass surfaced, he was suspended.
Video of the incident shows the priest zooming up and down the church aisles, singing into a microphone to greet churchgoers. Those in the congregation thought it was pretty cool and filmed him.
Unfortunately, the Diocese of San Pablo was not happy and suspended him, notes USA Today.
“The Eucharist demands utmost respect and reverence,” the diocese said on Facebook. “It is the Memorial of the Lord’s Sacrifice. It is the source and summit of Christian life. It is the Church’s highest form of worship. Consequently, it is not a personal celebration where one can capriciously introduce something to get the attention of the people.”
The diocese said that the priest is apologizing for the incident and said it will never happen again. He called it a “wake up call” and he will be “out of the parish and will spend some time to reflect on this past event.”
The most remarkable thing about the video isn’t that this priest thought it was a good idea, but the fact that he actually stayed on it without falling off for so long, unlike many others.
