There have been some pretty crazy conspiracy theories about Star Wars floating around, but one that made a huge splash was the idea that Jar Jar Binks is secretly a Sith Lord. Well, now the director himself has just debunked that.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, J.J. Abrams was asked to name his favorite fan theory about The Force Awakens. He brought up the one that's been going around lately that Jar Jar Binks is a Sith Lord and he will play a part in the upcoming Star Wars movie.

"What's incredible about it...there was this unbelievably lengthy analysis, in a very serious, thought out way, as to why it's obviously true that he is," Abrams said. "And that to me is just remarkable."

This theory emerged in a recent Reddit post, which posits that Jar Jar is a trained Force user who had been working with Palpatine all along and his goofy nature was always just a distraction. The conclusion is that Supreme Leader Snoke in The Force Awakens is actually Jar Jar, and this will be the movie's huge twist. While Abrams found the theory amusing and was impressed by the effort, he obviously wouldn't be bringing it up if it was a major reveal in the new movie, so we can pretty much lay this one to rest.
