The creators of Game of Thrones may be taking your complaints into account next year.
The most recent season of the HBO series sparked a lot of discussion about the depiction of sexual assault on television and many critics pointed to the rape of Sansa Stark as being unnecessary and exploitative.
According to director Jeremy Podeswa, this outcry will have a direct affect on season 6.
Podeswa noted that the show's creators, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, “were responsive to the discussion and there were a couple of things that changed as a result."
He said that the showrunners didn't want to censor themselves, noting that Game of Thrones depicts a brutal world in which horrible things happen, but at the same time, they did take in the criticism and it did influence their approach to season 6.
The Sansa scene wasn't the only rape to occur on Game of Thrones last season, as a few episodes earlier, Jaime Lannister raped his sister Cersei Lannister. The director of that episode, Alex Graves, later said that the scene was meant to depict consensual sex.
Game of Thrones returns for its sixth season in April 2016.
