Keith Urban attended the funeral for his father Robert “Bob” Urban this week in Australia, however, his wife, Nicole Kidman, and their two daughters did not attend.
The funeral took place in Queensland at the Caloundra funeral chapel, almost two weeks after his death from prostate cancer. Urban attended with his brother Shane and mother Marienne.
Urban addressed those attending the funeral by saying, “I am so deeply grateful that Dad is not suffering anymore. I loved him so much and did not want him to suffer like he was towards the end,” The Daily Telegraph reports.
He added, “So the release he now has gives me all the peace that I need to create this new spiritual relationship with my father.”
It’s reported that Urban’s daughters with Kidman, Sunday, 7, and Faith, 4, are still not recovered from their maternal grandfather’s death last year and were too saddened at his death to attend the funeral. It’s unclear why Kidman didn’t attend, but it’s likely she stayed behind with her daughters.
