There is no scene in The Revenant that shows Leonardo DiCaprio getting raped by a bear. Even after 20th Century Fox confirmed that and director Alejandro G. Inarritu laughed about the whole thing, though, star Leonardo DiCaprio had to comment on it.

For some background, after screenings of The Revenant for critics began at the start of the month, a Hollywood reporter wrote that a bear “molests” DiCaprio. So, for Mike Drudge of The Drudge Report, this meant that DiCaprio was “raped.”

This went viral and Fox had to actually release a statement saying that DiCaprio is not raped by a bear. Inarritu compared it to a Saturday Night Live sketch and couldn’t believe that the media actually picked up on it.

That could have been the end of the whole thing, but E! News just had to ask for DiCaprio’s thoughts on it.

“I have no idea where these ridiculous things come from, and what you do when you hear stuff like that?” DiCaprio said during the red carpet premiere for the movie. “It’s absurd. It’s absurd.”

DiCaprio has already earned a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the film and is expected to earn an Oscar nomination. The film begins a limited release on Christmas Day, but goes wide on Jan. 8.
