Thanks to a snowstorm in Iowa Monday, other presidential candidates there weren’t able to host their events. But former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, one of just three candidates for the Democratic nomination, pressed on and that meant that one event only had one attendee.
O’Malley had a series of events Monday night and only one person showed up for the last one. Sarah Beckman of ABC News tweeted a picture of O’Malley sitting with the man, Kenneth, in Tama, Iowa.
As Politico notes, O’Malley told MSNBC’s Morning Joe this morning that the man wasn’t even committed to supporting O’Malley during the caucasus on Feb. 1.
“So I wasn't surprised that he was uncommitted," O'Malley told Morning Joe. "But I was glad he took the time to come out in the snow to see me. We almost canceled that last event but we were out there anyway, so we plowed through.”
O’Malley’s other events had very few attendees as well. The Des Moines Register notes that only five people made it to an event in Webster City. Twelve people made it to one in Iowa Falls.
O’Malley is far behind in the polls for the Democratic nomination behind former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
