Just a day after getting a look at Doctor Strange, we have our first look at the new Punisher. Marvel and Netflix released the first photo of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, also known a The Punisher.

Entertainment Weekly, which also got the Doctor Strange photo, posted the picture today. It’s our first look at the second season of Daredevil since the season two trailer was shown at New York Comic-Con in October.

Showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez told EW that the new season will have a much faster pace than season one, which centered on Daredevil’s (Charlie Cox) fight against Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio).

“The advantage of any sequel is you can dive right in,” Petrie told the magazine. “We hit the ground running and then we ran as fast as we f***ing could.”

The Punisher, played by <i>The Walking Dead</i>'s Jon Bernthal, adds another new element to the series. Even though Castle thinks he has the same goal as Daredevil, he kills criminals the moment he sees them, unlike Daredevil. Ramirez said that the writers were inspired by Taxi Driver’s Travis Bickle.

“He has a different moral code,” Ramirez said. “Matt is a devout Catholic — and you rarely see a character who’s a devotee anything on TV. Frank has Hammurabi’s Code. It’s like letting a great white shark into the water.”
