The episode opens with a flashback to 2007 to show when Mindy met Danny.
In present time, Mindy and Danny cannot go a day without fighting about having another kid, Mindy keeping her job, and not selling her apartment yet. While decorating the Christmas tree, Mindy finds an ornament that has a picture of Mindy and Danny on Mindy’s first day at work in 2007. Both are confused why they are smiling because they hated each other back then.
Danny could not stand Mindy in 2007. Dr. Schulman admits to Danny that he hired Mindy by accident. So Danny makes a point of Mindy’s life at work miserable so she will leave. He gives her absolutely no advice on how to get started or how to even set up her office.
Danny needs Jeremy to cover his delivery. However, Mindy intercepts Danny’s instant message to Jeremy saying that Jeremy will do, but she will really be doing the delivery. Mindy changes the birth plan from a c-section to a normal delivery. When Danny finds out, he flips out and wants Mindy fired.
Danny decides not to fire after talking to his patient, who loved Mindy. He even lets Mindy stay. But she doesn’t want to stay, since Danny was so rude to her. He even says “never let anyone stop you from your dreams, even me.” (If she remembers that, that is going to come back to bite him.)
Danny decides that if the armoire that Mindy had delivered for her new office fits, its the universe’s sign that she should stay. The armoire fits in Mindy’s office, so Mindy decides to stay. Danny then proceeds to help Mindy put her new office together. So the picture, actually selfie, that is in the ornament is after Mindy and Danny assembled Mindy’s office on her first day.
The show flashes back to present time. Mindy gets out of bed and measures Leo’s crib. She then takes the subway to her apartment across town. She measures the extra room in her apartment, Leo’s crib would barely fit, with but a few inches of room on each side. After crying for a little bit, Mindy takes the for sale sign out of her apartment window and goes back to Danny’s apartment.
