The A Series of Unfortunate Events adaptation is moving along, and Netflix is calling on young actors everywhere to audition.

A casting notice has been sent out seeking the perfect Violet and Klaus, the two main characters of the book series. For Violet, they're looking for an actor between 11 and 14 who is young, but not too mature. "She is self confident, capable and smart beyond her years," the casting call reads.

For Klaus, the studio is looking for an actor between 10 and 13. They describe the character as charming, smart and a voracious reader. As will be obvious to anyone who read the novels, both Violet and Klaus will be series regulars.

Netflix is calling on absolutely anyone in the world to audition, and they've provided a scene for actors to perform on camera. Both are actually variations on the same dialogue sequence: in the first one, Klaus talks to Count Olaf and deduces his plan to marry his sister, and in the second version, Violet does so herself. Interestingly enough, a few pieces of Olaf's dialogue have been redacted from the script.

The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2016. The series will begin shooting in March.

This new Series of Unfortunate Events adaptation was ordered by Netflix in November 2014. Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) has signed on to serve as executive producer along with Daniel Handler, author of the book series. No release date has been set.
