Defensive end Damontre Moore was released by the New York Giants on Friday.

According to ESPN, Moore’s release was due to repeated violations of team rules and behavior and maturity issues that haven’t improved.

Moore has routinely clowned around during practice and responded poorly when teammates and coaches tried to get him to take practice seriously. He also had open feuds with team officials when confronted about his behavior and his lack of on-field discipline caused him to be benched for the game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7.

The final straw was a fight between Moore and his defensive end teammates that happened at a recent practice. According to NFL.com, Moore was specifically angry with Cullen Jenkins after he wasn't given free Beats headphones like other players.

“We made the move today in the interest of both parties,” Giants general manager Jerry Reese said in a statement.

Moore was drafted by the Giants in 2013. He had 17 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and five special-teams tackles this season, according to the Associated Press. Moore has played in 42 games and has 47 tackles, eight and a half sacks, and 21 special teams tackles in his three year career with the Giants.

The Giants haven’t announced a replacement for Moore. They are currently 5-7 and play the Miami Dolphins Monday night.
