After some of the biggest sports stars were named in a new Al Jazeera doping story, their lawyers are considering defamation lawsuits.

Anyone who has heard the Al Jazeera report which brought forth doping allegations against the likes of Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard and Washington Nationals infielder Ryan Zimmerman, knows that something about this story seems off. And now the athletes accused are threatening to sue the publication over the claims they say are false.

As we previously reported, Manning was the first to respond to Al Jazeera's report titled “The Dark Side,” about him using HGH.

“The allegation that I would do something like that is complete garbage and is totally made up,” Manning said. “It never happened. Never."

By Sunday evening the future Hall of Fame player said that he was so mad about the story that he will probably bring a lawsuit against Al Jazeera.

A few other current NFL players and three baseball players were also named in the doping story and two of them have also threatened to sue for defamation.

William Burck, the attorney for Ryan Howard and Ryan Zimmerman has called the accusations "inexcusable and irresponsible." Futhermore, the man who made such statements about the athletes doping has now recanted all his claims to which Burck responded, "The extraordinarily reckless claims made against our clients in this report are completely false and rely on a source who has already recanted his claims."

Obviously, we’ll stay tuned for the outcome.
