Pope Francis recognized a second miracle on Thursday for Mother Teresa to be canonized as a saint next year.
The Indian Express noted that the pontiff approved a decree recognizing a miracle attributed to Mother Teresa’s intercession with the Lord. The miracle is said to be the healing of a Brazilian man who was suffering from a deadly brain disease and his family prayed to Mother Teresa for him to recover. Doctors were not able to explain how he overcame and recovered from the disease.
Mother Theresa of Calcutta was a Roman Catholic, Albanian nun who lived her life to help the poorest people of India. She died in 1997 at the age of 87 and was beatified by the late Pope John Paul II in 2003.
"I was informed by the Vatican that Pope Francis has recognized the second miracle to Mother Teresa," said Kolkata's Archbishop Thomas D'Souza.
The Times of India reported that Mother Teresa is expected to be canonized into sainthood on September 4, 2016.
