Director Quentin Tarantino has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame ahead of the premiere of his new movie, The Hateful Eight.
Tarantino was joined at the event by some of the stars of The Hateful Eight including Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins and Zoe Bell, notes USA Today.
"This is a real, real groovy day," the director said.
In his speech, Tarantino noted that he didn't realize his star would be getting such prominent placement on the Walk of Fame, right below the TCL Chinese Theatre marquee. He joked that he "must have become a big shot in the meantime...that's really cool."
The director also called to mind the first time he was at the Chinese Theater, seeing Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid when he was seven years old.
The event went rather smoothly with no protests in sight, despite the fact that police unions across the country threatened to boycott and protest Tarantino's new movie. This was in response to Tarantino attending an anti-police brutality event back in October. The Fraternal Order of Police promised they had a "surprise" in store for the director, but so far no Hateful Eight event has had any issues.
The Hateful Eight opens on Dec. 25.
