A new Atlantic poll has determined that Game of Thrones' Ramsay Bolton is the most vile and hated character on television.

After more than 140,000 votes and an exhaustive bracket, Atlantic readers have decided that no one is worse than the bastard son of Roose Bolton, who in the past few seasons of Game of Thrones has made Joffrey Baratheon look like a genuinely nice guy.

The character spent literally an entire season torturing Theon Greyjoy. This year, viewers were forced to watch him rape the beloved Sansa Stark, which sparked a whole lot of controversy. Naturally, the way Game of Thrones works, that probably means he'll survive longer than anyone.

Rounding out the rest of the top ten were Hannibal Lecter (Hannibal), Jim Moriarty (Sherlock), Fitzgerald Grant (Scandal), Pete Campbell (Mad Men), Walter White (Breaking Bad), Joffrey Baratheon (Game of Thrones), Marnie Michaels (Girls), Gustavo Fring (Breaking Bad) and Hanna Horvath (Girls). But can any of them possibly top a guy who flays people for fun?

It should be noted, though, that saying these are the worst people on television is not the same as saying they're the worst characters on television, as writing a genuinely interesting villain can be hard work.
