Rita Ora signed with Jay Z’s Roc Nation nearly eight years ago when she was 18, but she’s now launching a lawsuit against the label.
Ora’s lawsuit cites being essentially left in the dust when the company branched out to other ventures, such as Jay Z’s streaming service Tidal and its sports management branch.
“When Rita signed, Roc Nation and its senior executives were very involved with her as an artist," her lawyer wrote in the complaint filed on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
"As Roc Nation's interests diversified, there were fewer resources available and the company suffered a revolving door of executives. Rita's remaining supporters at the label left or moved on to other activities, to the point where she no longer had a relationship with anyone at the company."’
Ora, through her attorney Howard King, maintains in the documents that her “relationship with Roc Nation is irrevocably damaged” and she’s basically “orphaned” from the label.
