Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg has had a year she would probably like to forget after losing her husband, Dave Goldberg, eight months ago. But she’s proving her resolve by reflecting on 2015 in a determined and inspiring Facebook post.

In the post, Sanderg admitted her world “crumpled” when her husband passed away at the age of 47 unexpectedly.

Sandberg wrote about her support group, Lean In, which is comprised of her childhood girlfriends, getting her through the darkest days of her life.

“I stopped trying to meditate, but my connection to this group of friends was one of the things that helped pull me through,” she wrote. “They checked in daily. Even though they live across the country, they showed up early and often.”

She also wrote about her New Year’s Resolution, which is to write down three moments of joy from each day.

“I want to choose life and meaning over death and tragedy and live Option B as best I can,” she added. “So I will try to focus on finding joy in the mundane and the profound —joy in the small things that make my children smile, joy in the moments of friendship that might otherwise pass by unnoticed, joy in the ability to appreciate the gift of life in a way I never did before.”

New Year’s is the traditional time of rebirth, renewal, and resolutions. This year, New Year’s has more meaning for me...
