Martin E. Brooks, a longtime television actor best known for his role on The Six Million Dollar Man, has died. He was 90 years old.
Producer Jon Landau confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that Brooks died on Monday in Studio City from natural causes. Landau’s mother, Edie, had been close friends with Brooks for the past two decades.
As Variety notes, Brooks played Dr. Rudy Wells on The Six Million Dollar Man and the spin-off The Bionic Woman. He was the third actor to play the part, following Martin Balsam and Alan Oppenheimer. Brooks reprised the role in three television movies, making his last appearance in the part in 1994’s Bionic Ever After?.
Brooks’ career in television dated back to 1951 and included appearances on McMillan & Wife, The New Perry Mason, Quincy M.E., Cagney & Lacey, Hunter and Knots Landing.
Brooks was also a stage actor and received a Tony nomination for his performance in John Van Druten’s I Am A Camera. In addition, he penned two novels and wrote the play Flo and Joe, which was staged on Broadway. Last year, he released a collection of songs he recorded during the ‘60s and ‘70s.
