Star Wars: The Force Awakens is looking to break the all-time weekend debut record and is already halfway there.

Back in November, a month before the film’s release, it was estimated that ticket sales had already reached $50 million. Now, The Hollywood Reporter’s sources say that the movie has already reached over $100 million. This demolishes the previous advance ticket sales record, which was previously held by The Dark Knight Rises ($25 million).

Fandango has already said that it has sold more advance tickets on its site than any other film in its 15-year history.

Deadline reports that the film could make as much as $50 million from Thursday night previews. That should break Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2’s record of $44 million.

Universal’s Jurassic World surprisingly broke the all-time weekend debut record with $208.8 million domestically. That’s the number that The Force Awakens will have to pass.

The Force Awakens was directed by J.J. Abrams and had its Hollywood premiere last night.
