Not everything went according to plan for the packed audience watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Hollywood's ArcLight Theater on Thursday.
The projector stopped during the movie, then restarted 15 to 20 minutes ahead of when the film was cut out. The reaction from the crowd was not very understanding.
Erik Melendez, who attended the screening, posted a video of the incident on Facebook.
The audience didn't know that the portion of the film they were being shown wasn't the ending. Most people within the theater thought that they had missed plot developments.
"Now that we watched the movie, we know it wasn't the ending. However, at the time, we thought it was because we saw the movie fast forwarded and believed it to be spoilers," Melendez told CNN.
The projector was fixed and the movie proceeded as planned.
The Force Awakens has already grossed $238 million at the domestic box office, breaking numerous records. At the worldwide box office the movie has made $517 million.
