A Historic Tribal Council:
After banding together for last week’s vote, Kimmi decided this was the perfect time for her to make a move against her allies Jeremy, Spencer and Tasha by teaming up with Keith and Wentworth. While a good plan because no one would see it coming, Tasha and Spencer became suspicious when Kimmi wandered off with Keith and Wentworth. Spencer was safe thanks to his immunity necklace, but he wanted to ensure his allies would not get blindsided either. That’s why he insisted that he, Tasha, and Jeremy vote together instead of splitting the votes like they originally planned with to do with Kimmi. All the while though Jeremy thought they were being paranoid because he was so certain that Kimmi would remain loyal to them.
At tribal council that night, Spencer laid down the law and, without accusing Kimmi of having betrayed them, announced that he, Tasha, and Jeremy would vote together. In other words, he was making it clear to her that if she didn’t stick with the original plan, then it would go to a tie, and she could very well be eliminated if she drew the wrong rock. Jaws dropped, even more so when both Wentworth and Jeremy played their hidden immunity idols. In a Survivor first, no votes were cast because the ones for Wentworth and Jeremy didn’t count (meaning Kimmi had indeed flipped).
Since Spencer, Jeremy, and Wentworth had immunity, a second vote took place to decide between Keith, Kimmi, or Tasha going home. This time, there was a tie between Tasha and Kimmi. The rules of Survivor called for a revote at this point, but since no one wanted to change their vote, they moved to a deadlock. That meant only the players without votes cast against them (in this case, Keith, Jeremy, Spencer, and Wentworth) would have to come to a unanimous decision on who would get voted out. If nothing could be decided, then the two players in question (Tasha and Kimmi) would become safe and the remaining players (Keith, Spencer, Wentworth, and Jeremy) would have to draw rocks. However, since three of these players had immunity, Keith by default would have been eliminated.
(Trust me, it was just as confusing watching all of this unfold. Thankfully Jeff Probst took the time to outline all of this live, hence why I was able to explain it above.)
Being the gentleman that he is, Keith almost volunteered to take the fall for Kimmi until Wentworth talked him out of it. Ultimately, Kimmi’s torch was snuffed after all the confusion.
The Fake Idol:
Wentworth managed to pull out a win at the next immunity challenge, but she also wracked her brain for a way to keep Keith safe as well. She created a fake idol for him to wear around camp, but he opted instead to act suspicious, patting his pocket, moving things around to make it seem like he was trying to hide it. Tasha and Spencer didn’t totally discredit the appearance of another hidden immunity idol, but they were much calmer about it than Jeremy. The most hysterical exchange soon followed when Jeremy tried in vain for several minutes to get Keith’s attention on the downlow so that Jeremy could secure his spot for that night. After finally reaching him, he and Keith used hand signals to agree that Spencer should be voted out. Thankfully, Jeremy’s paranoia subsided, and he stayed true to Spencer and Tasha, so Keith was voted out instead.
A Million-Dollar Challenge:
Jeremy won the final challenge of the season, leaving him with a huge decision as to who he should take with him to the end. Spencer and Tasha may have formed a final three deal with him, but they still felt like they were at his mercy and that this vote would be a test of the relationships they’ve built. Wentworth rallied and tried to get Jeremy to see that Spencer was the biggest threat in the game, while Spencer quote unquote “bullied” Jeremy (as per the jury at the final tribal council) for his seat in the final three. Staying true to his word, Jeremy voted for Wentworth became the final member of the jury.
The Final Tribal Council:
The final tribal council was actually quite short compared to previous years, but still very entertaining and effective. All three contestants were worthy opponents, and they made great arguments during every single question, so it wasn’t clear who the jury favored. The highlight of the night came when it was Wiglesworth’s turn to speak. She reminded the finalists that she had lost the game during her season by only one vote, and her fate had been determined by a random question: “Pick a number between 1 and 10.”
Clearly Jeremy must have guessed or been closest to the number she was thinking of because she cast her vote for him to win, along with everyone else on the jury.
