The usually very private Tiger Woods gave a rare and extensive interview recently where he spoke about everything from his ex-wife Elin Nordegren to his past relationship with Lindsey Vonn and even retiring from golf.
In the interview with Lorne Rubenstein for Time, Woods opened up about the 2009 incident that put his marriage and infidelity in the spotlight.
When asked what he would have done differently back then he said, “In hindsight, it’s not how I would change 2009 and how it all came about. It would be having a more open, honest relationship with my ex-wife. Having the relationship that I have now with her is fantastic. She’s one of my best friends. We’re able to pick up the phone and we talk to each other all the time. We both know that the most important things in our lives are our kids. I wish I would have known that back then.”
Woods also said that he and Lindsey Vonn had a “fantastic” relationship but in the end could not make it work because they were always in different parts of the world training and competing.
And on the subject of if he will every play golf again professionally, the 39-year-old said that with the injuries he’s had he really doesn’t know and at this point he just began walking again.
