A scene of horror unfolded Sunday evening on the Las Vegas Strip when a woman drove onto a sidewalk littered with pedestrians, injuring 36 of them and killing one.

FoxNews.com reported that Lakeisha N. Holloway, 24, was behind the wheel of a 1996 Oldsmobile sedan that she drove into the crowd of people in front of the Paris Hotel & Casino.

Those victims struck were all taken to area hospitals and their conditions vary from serious to stable.

The incident happened just after 6:30 p.m. local time and sent panic-stricken pedestrians running for cover.

KSNV noted that law enforcement officials said Holloway’s act of driving on the sidewalk and into people walking was intentional.

"At this point we are treating this as an intentional act" said Capt. Dan McGrath of Metro homicide.

There was also a 3-year-old child in the car, who was not injured.

As of Monday, Holloway was booked and charged with murder, first-degree child abuse or neglect and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. Other charges are expected to follow.
