James Franco's new film about the worst movie ever made has just added a familiar face to its cast.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zac Efron has signed on to play a drug dealer in The Disaster Artist. This performance is being described as just a cameo appearance and for those familiar with The Room, it sounds like Efron will portray one of the actors in the famous Denny drug-deal scene.
This will be the second project Zac Efron and Seth Rogen have worked on together following Neighbors, the 2011 comedy which was a surprise success and grossed $270 million worldwide. Rogen is a producer on The Disaster Artist and will also have an unspecified role in the film.
Based on the book by Greg Sestero, The Disaster Artist is based on the true story of the making of The Room, one of the most notoriously awful movies ever made. Franco will direct and star as eccentric filmmaker Tommy Wiseau, while his brother Dave Franco will play Greg Sestero. The rest of the cast will be made up of Josh Hutcherson, Ari Graynor, Andrew Santino, Jacki Weaver, Hannibal Buress and Kate Upton.
The screenplay for The Disaster Artist is written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber ((500) Days of Summer, The Fault in Our Stars). It is expected to hit theaters in 2016.
