An active shooter was reported at San Diego Naval Medical Center this morning, according to the center’s Facebook page. People have been asked to stay away from the center.
A message was posted on the center’s Facebook page at 11:07 a.m. (8:07 a.m. PT). The statement reads:
“An active shooter has just been been reported in building #26 at Naval Medical Center San Diego. All occupants are advised to run, hide or fight. All non-emergency response personnel are asked to stay away from the compound, located at 34800 Bob Wilson Drive, San Diego, CA 92134.”
Medical Center spokesman Mike Alvarez told CNN that there were reports of three gunshots fired at the center’s Building 26. It is being treated as an active shooter situation, Alvarez said.
According to KSUI, the building houses the Security Pass and Decal office.
San Diego Fire Department spokesman Joseph Amandor told The Los Angeles Times that firefighters haven’t been called to the scene yet.

UPDATE #1: A Navy spokesman told the LA Times that, after a preliminary search, they have "not located and evidence" of a shooting.
CBS News is reporting that all children at the childcare facilities are accounted for.
UPDATE #3: The Associated Press is now reporting that the Navy has found no sign of a shooting at the medical center.
